about us

The On-Lang.net partnership is composed from:

Inspectoratul Scolar Judetean Arges

In Romania there is the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION RESEARCH AND YOUTH, which is divided into several departments that are responsible for different tasks and education levels.
At regional level, each county has a SCHOOL INSPECTORATE managed by a general inspector.
Arges county, situated in the central-southern part of Romania, in the upper Arges river basin, has a surface of 6,801 km² and a population of over 650,000 inhabitants. The capital of this county is the city of Pitesti, also known as the city of tulips.
The School Inspectorate of Arges County, whose headquarters are situated in Pitesti, is a regional public authority in the field of education, a representative of the Ministry of Education Research and Youth at county level. It is in charge with the implementation of governmental politics regarding education and research at regional level. In Arges County there are 226 schools, 42 colleges, highschools and technical highschools, one palace for children and pupils and one house of the teaching staff. Its main responsibility is to coordinate the teaching process, to monitor the applying of the legal provisions in the territory, to perform the special inspections, to evaluate the teaching system and process, to assure the implementation of the national policy in the region of Arges County.

The Scool Inspectorate makes a major contribution to the development of the city and of the region through its wide range of collaborative partnerships with public authorities.
Modern information systems have brought major changes to all human activities: economical, political, social, cultural. Education in Romania is now undergoing a process of implementation of computer assisted programs that enable teachers to help their students access the most recent data. Communication and the use of foreign languages are very important in the development of thinking and understanding.
Many schools in Romania (Arges county included) have found the financial support to buy computers and the auxiliary equipment to get connected to the Internet and now they are trying to find out an effective way of using it. Most teachers(especially the young ones) can and are willing to use the Internet as a gateway to a wealth of information, contacts and activities.

The School Inspectorate develops language, professional and vocational courses as a concrete answer to the needs and expectations for this millenium, courses which are provided by specialists from the universities of Pitesti and Bucharest.
Teachers and students are helped to use foreign languages effectively and to develop their language skills.

Role in the Project

Knowing how to express, explore and exchange information may be the key to success in life. We can learn a lot from each other and, when speaking about European school we realize that even though there are many differences among us regarding our languages and cultures, there are also many similarities. It’s teachers duty to use ICT technology as an aid in their teaching so that they may be able to meet the demands of their students, who are inquisitive and have new expectations, attitudes and behaviours.ICT allows teachers to come together and talk about their teaching methods.
On-Lang Net will be a tool of evaluation for our students.
The School Inspectorate of Arges County will help with the dissemination of the project, of the evaluation tests provided on line. We will help students find the appropriate methods to measure language- related skills. We will use specialists in evaluating or in making scoring systems. It is necessary to consider the best way to score a test, to find a balance between a scoring system that is fair to the student and objective and one that is reasonably easy to administer.
The School Inspectorate will ask specialists to publish the results of this project in magazines or to present them on the occasion of certain seminars, round-table talks, TV shows. The Inspectorate will help in the research and one of the “case-studies” will be in Romanian.
